Farewell Mine Enemy

Farewell to evil, I’ve been summoned home.  I shall not miss your charm.
I will not miss your entanglements
nor your devotion to bring me harm.

Farewell to thee, sneering whisperer,  from dawn through night’s wakeful hour
you’ve lingered alongside my gullible ear
with lies dispensed to devour.

Farewell to thee, enchanting one, who laid in wait with cunning
and tracked me as a huntsman
when perception had me running.

Farewell to thee, deceived one, malicious, dark, and dour,
you thought your work had me enslaved.
My weakness perfects God’s power!

Farewell to thee, my enemy, ‘though your work has been self-praised,
God has purposed every stroke.
In Christ I have been raised!

The victory belongs to Him alone!! I am so, so glad we are in the same battle…and on the same winning team.

Wow, great valediction! I didn’t even try because the form seemed daunting, but you’ve captured it perfectly. It also moved me to click ‘follow.’ Look forward to reading your work. 1,4 Him, Don…
