Remember what the doctor said,
“Life is hard.”
God has not said it would be otherwise.
It’s not about plucking grapes off the stem
in the shade of a soft willow tree.
It’s more attuned to the filling up of suffering.
If it’s not you, it’s your brother, or neighbor,
providing opportunity for Love’s evidence.
The calmer days are woven in,
with refreshment from God in nature
and through others, with grace to nourish the soul.
Keeping a steady pace of one;
one step, one day, one God;
to live in the faith for this moment of life,
not in regret of yesterday,
or the why of today,
or the fear of tomorrow’s storm that may not come.
