Cruising

Loneliness was messing with Grandma’s heart.
Most everyone has known this type of blues.
Not sure how to lift her from the doldrums,
we shuffled to the car to take a cruise.

She was bothered that her blindness would prevent her
from seeing sights she’s known throughout her years,
but I told her to hold on we’d take the hilly roads
that tickle bellies and make wind to dry your tears.

Sunshine streaming in and Grandma comfy,
only on the road a little while,
tuned to 40’s on 40 on the radio
it made my day to see my Grandma smile!
