Just Fowl

This family has survived the summer,
dodging predators and cars.

Inciting the locals, dogs that is,
to a frenzy at the end of their restraint.

You had better watch out, you turkeys,
this yard is under surveillance.

You might be stalked by a freakish cat
that has no tail.

You may be entertained by an English
Mastiff, tail curled under, spooked and scampering past.

Undoubtedly you’ve been alerted to
the owls perched overhead watching.

The rumored puma may be lurking
just a pounce or two in the brush.

The coyotes howls are distant
but your fattened form may lure them in.

Relieved to survive these perils, you’ve
yet to dodge the mighty bullet.

Gobble, google, turkey wobble,
hide behind the barn or RUN!
