Night Nurture

I awoke in the night like a nursing babe.
God whispered, “long for the pure milk of the Word.”  1 Peter 2:2

I puffed my pillow and drifted towards anxiety.
God said, “who by being anxious can add one
cubit to the measure of his life?”  Luke 12:25

I stretched to my back to reanalyze the past.
God said, “forget what lies behind, reach
forward to what lies ahead, press on to the
mark of the high calling in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 3:13

I tossed on top of the uncertainties.
God said, “I go before you and will never leave you
nor forsake you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.”  Deuteronomy 31:8

I nestled snugly into the bedding.
I had been reminded that, “Your goodness and Love will follow me
all the days of my life, and I will dwell
in the house of the LORD forever.”  Psalm 23:6
