The Deep Well

The source of our deepest joys,
the kindle for our raw happy emotions,
can be the source of enormous tragedy.

Some have pondered walling up,
fortifying the heart against incursion.
That prospect is isolated madness.

Some say the emotion is utter weakness.
I suspect they are peering through
a hole in their own heart-wall.

The path on life’s journey,
that may traverse vast and varied terrain,
leads to God’s eternal glory.

Every joy is a treasure.
Every sorrow seeks His comfort.
Every step is one closer to Home.
